Srinagar, July 09: Militants on Friday managed to escape after a gunfight with a joint team of police, army and CRPF in Redwani area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.

“It seems that the militant escaped in the initial phase of the operation,” SSP Kulgam Gurinderpal Singh (IPS) said.

Earlier, police in a tweet had said that ‘encounter started’ between militants and a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF in Redwani.

“Encounter has started at Redwani area of #Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” police had said in a tweet at 1:55 A.M.
