They said the blasts damaged the roof of the building and one was also reported on ground. The blasts occurred at about 1.45 am on Sunday, officials said.

Reports quoting sources said that it is suspected that low-flying drones were used to drop improvised explosive devices (IED). This is probably the first drone attack on any defence establishment in the country. An IAF patrol team saw the ammunition being dropped, reports said.

The Indian Air Force put out a tweet stating, “There was no damage to any equipment. Investigation is in progress along with civil agencies.”

The area is currently sealed by security forces for investigation, officials said adding that the matter is being investigated.

It was not immediately known whether the drone was a big or small.

Responding to the incident, the defence ministry tweeted, “Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal HS Arora regarding today’s incident at Air Force Station in Jammu. Air Marshal Vikram Singh is reaching Jammu to take stock of the situation.”
