Andhra Pradesh: 11 Covid patients die in hospital before oxygen supply restored

Hyderabad: Eleven patients battling coronavirus breathed last in a hospital in Tirupati after a tanker with oxygen got late by mintues. The incident happened on Monday evening in one of the largest hospitals in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.

Indian Express reported that the incident happened in the Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital at Tirupati, the largest in the Rayalaseema region. The patients were admitted in the ICU of the hospital.

The report quoted District Collector M Hari Narayana saying the 11 people who were on oxygen support have passed away. Several others, Narayana said, have been saved.

According to e report the dip in the oxygen pressure started after 8:30 pm and the patients died within a few minutes, before the supply could be restored. Nearly 1,000 Covid patients are being treated at the hospital,
