Jammu: An army soldier allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at around midnight in Ramban district, police said on Sunday.

The deceased Sepoy identified as Hanuman Choudhary shot himself dead with his AK 47 rifle inside the 12 RR camp at Ukhral area in the district at around 0030 hours last night, police said.

Police said inquest proceedings U/S 174 CrPC have been initiated. Later a police party visited the spot for further investigation
