Sarpanchs from J&K to visit Uttarakhand for 5 day Training cum Exposure Tour

Jammu: A batch of 33 Sarpanchs from Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is visiting Uttarakhand on five day training cum exposure visit from 14th December to 19th December, 2020, with an aim to expose them to the best practices and make them learn about the implementation of flagship schemes in the state of Uttarakhand.

Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, held a brief interaction with the delegation before flagging off a batch of the 33 Sarpanchs of different districts of the UT from Panchayat Bhawan here today. Speaking on the occasion, Sheetal Nanda said that the Department of Panchayati Raj, Uttarakhand has organised this training visit very meticulously for the exposure of Sarpanchs of Jammu and Kashmir.

She exhorted upon the Sarpanchs to take maximum advantage of the field exposure tour so that the best practices learnt gets replicated in various Panchayats of J&K.

Sheetal Nanda said that the vision of the Government of J&K is to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system and to make the rural local bodies self reliant so that they take innovative initiatives and develop their Panchayats in all spheres not only in respect of physical infrastructure but also social and economic fields.

She added that this visit is also one of many steps taken by the department in that direction.

During the tour, the Sarpanchs shall be exposed to various activities being carried out including Solid Liquid Waste Management, Generation of Own Source Revenue, Preparation of Budget, Integration of labour budget under MGNREGA with GPDP and SDGs, Integration of Panchayat Development plans at various tiers, Panchayat Enterprise Suit applications etc.

Director Panchayats, J&K, Rakesh Srangal, said that this shall now be a continuous practice with regular batches visiting various states at regular intervals.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Rural Development, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar asked the Sarpanchs to reap maximum benefit out of this visit and asked them to follow all Covid protocols during the visit.
