Srinagar, October 10: Two militants were killed in a gunfight with a joint team of police and army in Chingam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, officials said.
They said a joint team of Police and Army’s 01RR launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Chingam amid inputs about the presence of militants there. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
“Two unidentified militants have been killed. The Operation in progress,” police said in a tweet. “Further details shall follow,” the police added.
