Anantnag, Sept 25: A local was among two Lashker-e-Toiba militants killed overnight gunfight in Sirhama area of Bijbehra in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Thursday.
They said that operation was suspended last night due to darkness and resumed early today. It ended with the killing of two militants identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat of Laroo Kakapora and foreign militant.
The encounter had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army’s 03 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Sirhama.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, they said. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
