Srinagar, Aug 29: Three militants and an army soldier were killed in a gunfight in Zadoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
Officials said a joint team of Police, Army’s 50RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area late last night.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
A soldier was injured in the initial gunfight and was subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, three militants were killed, they said. The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is being established, they said.
