GST Enforcement wing intensifies inspections in North Kashmir

Sopore: The Enforcement wing of State Taxes Department has intensified its inspection drive against the conveyance vehicles carrying goods in North Kashmir districts of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.
The teams intercepted various goods laden vehicles at National Highway during last three days for physical verification, security of tax invoices and E way bills and seized documents of some of the consignments violating the norms.
The Enforcement team conducted the drives under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Incharge, Enforcement North Kashmir.
The team was comprised of State Taxes Officers, Enforcement Inspector’s and other field staff.
Deputy Commissioner stated that though a few cases of improper and doubtful documentation were detected which shall be further scrutinized. However, he added that the drivers and transporters need further education and awareness for which department shall take all necessary steps.
He appealed the traders to ensure generation of proper tax invoices, E way bills and obtain GST registration if their businesses cross the threshold. He further advised the drivers and transporters to ensure carrying all documents with any consignments in accordance with the provisions laid down in GST Act, to avoid any penalties.
Deputy Commissioner stated that this random checking will continue to scuttle any attempts of tax evasion.
