Health employee injured after assault by locals in Kokernag, FIR lodged

Anantnag: A team of healthcare workers was attacked by locals in Watnard Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday afternoon.
The team was visiting the Watnard area to screen locals for the novel coronavirus when it was subjected to such “hostilities”, officials said.
Talking to INS, BMO kokernag Dr Gowhar Ali said that a team had gone to the area for collecting of samples of COVID-19 but unfortunately there were some altercation with a household which they were visiting.
The household didn’t want to screen themselves and they assaulted the team in which one of the health employees namely Mohammad Ashraf was injured who was later referred to kokernag PHC for treatment.
“We have report in police station kokernag hope they will take action against the miscreants,” he said.
Meanwhile, a case under FIR number 103/2020 under various sections of law has been registered at Police station Kokernag and further investigation has been taken up, a police officer said.
