Poonch, Aug 4: A 36-year-old woman from Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district returned to J&K, more than 13 months after she had crossed over to Pakistan administered Kashmir through Hajipeer sector along the LoC near her home.
Official sources said that the woman, a mother of four children, had crossed over to LoC in Hajipeer sector on 25 June last year.
A resident Nambla Uri, the woman— Shaheena Begum wife of Abdul Latief Bhat, walked alone as the gate of Chakan Da Bagh Poonch opened for the first time in nearly a year as both trade as well as bus service between two parts of the Kashmir came to a standstill following abrogation of the Article 370 of the Indian constitution by New Delhi. Both trade and bus service was tipped to be one of the biggest confidence building measures between the two neighbors.
SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said that the woman returned. She will now travel to her home in Uri. It could not be immediately known why Chakan Da Bagh was chosen and not Muzaffarabad crossing point for her return.  (With Inputs From GNS)
