‘One Among Them Refused To Surrender Despite Family’s Pleas’
Srinagar, July 04: Two militants were killed and three soldiers including a JCO were injured in Arrah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that operation was halted for few hours as “we brought one of the militant’s family to persuade him surrender.” However, the trapped militant refused to surrender, the IGP added.
During the initial exchange of firing one militant was killed and three army soldiers including JCO were injured. The injured were shifted to hospital and there were no confirmation as regards their status when this report was filed.
Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Arrah.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. Pertinently, 122 militants have been killed so far this year in the Valley.
