Srinagar, June 10: Two more militants have been killed in a gunfight with a joint team of Police, CRPF and Army in Sugoo Hendhama area of Shopian on Wednesday, taking the militant death toll to five in the ‘ongoing operation’ and 14 in the southern Kashmir district in last less than three days.
“So far five unidentified militants have been killed. The operation is going on,” police said in a tweet.
Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 44RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Sugoo Hendhama.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. With the killing in Sugoo village, 14 militants including two commanders of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen have been killed in the southern Kashmir district in last less than 3 days.
Meanwhile, mobile Internet continued to remain suspended in the Shopian district as a precautionary measure.
