14 Cops, Pregnant Woman Among 62 More Test Positive

Srinagar:  The Jammu and Kashmir reported 62 more COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
Official sources said that 46 of them are from Kashmir and 16 from Jammu division.
Among them Kulgam reported 28 cases, Anantnag 15, Jammu 6, Ramban 5, Samba 2 and one each in Srinagar, Shopian, Pulwama, Udhampur, Kathua and Poonch.
Sources at SKIMS here said that six samples–3 from Kadoora Kugam—32 and 34 years old woman and 65-year-old man besides Watoo D H Pora Kulgam—one each from Shopian—35-year-old from Pandushan, and 24-year-old woman Pulwama (travel history to MP)—returned positive for the virus.
Sources said 24 samples, all from Kulgam, returned positive last night at army’s Udhampur hospital.
Of the all cases, 16 were confirmed at CD hospital’s Covid-19 laboratory out of 642 samples tested. It includes 14 policemen, a pregnant woman, from Anantnag district and one person from Bemina Srinagar, Dr. Saleem, Nodal Officer for COVID-19, said.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 1183 positive cases, 595 are Active Positive, 575 have recovered and 13 have died.
Moreover, 33 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of the Kashmir Division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 80934 test results available, 79751 samples have tested as negative till May 17, 2020.
Additionally, till date 111368 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 29442 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 105 in Hospital Quarantine, 595 in hospital isolation and 15425 under home surveillance. Besides, 65788 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 135 positive cases with 09 Active Positive, 125 recovered, 01 death; Srinagar has 157 positive cases (including 01 reported today) with 56 Active Positive, 96 recovered (including 12 recoveries today), 05 deaths; Anantnag district has 177 positive cases (including 15 cases reported today), with 141 Active Positive, 35 recovered (including 07 recoveries today), 01 death; Baramulla has 118 positive cases with 35 Active Positive, 80 recovered, 03 deaths; Shopian has 108 positive cases (including 01 reported today) with 33 Active Positive, 75 recovered (including 11 recoveries today); Kupwara has 97 positive cases with 49 Active Positive, 48 recovered; Budgam has 57 positive cases, with 28 Active Positive and 28 recovered cases and 01 death; Ganderbal has 23 positive cases with 09 Active cases and 14 recoveries; Kulgam has 147 positive cases (including 28 reported today), with 138 Active Positive and 09 recoveries (including 03 recoveries today); Pulwama reported 16 positive cases (including 01 reported today) with 11 active positive, 05 recovered.
Similarly, Jammu has 45 positive cases (including 06 reported today) with 17 active positive cases and 27 recoveries and 01 death; Udhampur has 25 positive cases (including 01 reported today) with 05 active positive case, 19 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 13 positive cases (including 02 reported today) with 07 Active Positive and 06 recoveries; Rajouri has 05 positive cases with 01 active positive case and 04 recovered; Kathua has 32 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 31 Active positive and 01 recovered; Kishtwar had only 01 positive case who has recovered; Ramban has 23 positive case (including 05 reported today) with 22 active positive and 01 recovered while Reasi has 03 positive cases with 02 active positive and 01 recovered, Poonch reported 01 positive case today.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin, while describing Spitting in public places as a public nuisance which spreads COVID-19 infection, has advised the people to quit chewing tobacco and pan masala for a safer and better health. “To Quit Tobacco Call Toll free National Tobacco Quit Line 1800112356 or Give a Missed Call at 011-22901701”, the bulletin further urged the people.
