Revival of MGNREGA Activities: DC Ganderbal Inspects Various Works

Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal on Wednesday took whirlwind tour of Sub-division Kangan where he took stook of MGNREGA activities being carried in the Sub-division.
The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, BDO Kangan and other concerned.
During visit the DC inspected various works which have recently resumed including desilting of important irrigation canals and khuls and took stock of work completion on development of play field at Chinner Kangan.
The BDO Kangan apprised the DC that most of work is completed except levelling and fencing from Nallah side which will be taken soon.
While reviewing the desilting process the DC urged the BDO that workers should follow the protocols put in place in view of the COVID-19 like maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.
He also asked the SDM Kangan that concerned BMO shall be directed to carry random health audit of workers.
The DC gave necessary instructions to the BDO for completion of de-silting process within the stipulated time frame as agricultural activities have resumed in the Sub-division.
En route, the DC also met various local people and enquired about the availability of essential commodities in their respective areas.
He urged them to follow lockdown with letter and spirit which is in favour of safety of people.
On the occasion, the farmers met the DC and expressed their gratitude to the District Administration for resuming MGNREGA works especially desilting of important Canals and khuls in view of approaching Agricultural season.
He urged them to follow the government instructions regarding safety in wake of Covid-19 pandemic spread while undertaking farming activities.
Meanwhile, the DC also visited the Chinner power receiving station which is being augmented to overcome the unusual power cuts in Kangan areas as most of Kangan households are connected through this receiving station.
The DC directed the concerned to ensure augmentation work is completed at the earliest so that people of the area get relief from power crisis especially in holy month of Ramadan.
