‘Dread’ drug peddler arrested in Ganderbal: Police

Ganderbal: As a part of sustained and stringent action against drug mafia, police arrested another dreaded drug peddler at Safapora in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police officer said a police party led by SHO Safapora Sajad Khanday, under the supervision of DySP Ganderbal S M Shafi and under the patronage of SSP District Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal intercepted one person namely Mohammad Yasin Bhat of Kambay Mohalla Wakura area as he tried to evade police naka at Treesa Safapora Crossing and was trying to sneak into the nearby densely populated civil area.
After a lot of resistance the person was apprehended along with a bag containing 20 bottles of codeine phosphate, police said.
Accordingly, the person was arrested on the spot and other legal formalities were completed simultaneously.
An FIR No 14/2020, U/S 8/21 NDPS, Police station Safapora has been lodged into the matter and further investigation was taken up, he said.
This is the fifth arrest of drug peddler within one month and the arrested peddler is “dreaded” one and a close ally of recently arrested drug peddler alias Sooda, with a strong network, the officer said.
“He was active for the last 7/8 years in the area.”
