Srinagar: With restrictions in place to limit the movement of people to prevent spread of novel coronavirus, three of the seven persons who had taken up the dangerous route to reach home died under snow in Banihal area in Ramban district on Tuesday, officials said.
Reports and sources said that many people try to skirt the main routes and are taking dangerous routes through steep snowbound mountains, forests, and river banks to reach their home.
On Monday, they said, seven persons had adopted a snowbound mountainous track to reach their home in Hanjaj Banihal.
Four of them got trapped in the snow while three others managed to reach their home safely. Those trapped in the snow were later evacuated and taken to Sub District Hospital Banihal where one of them, Mohammad Reyaz son of Mohammad Ramzan was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. Three others were admitted in critical condition. Later two among them succumbed and they have been identified as Ghulam Mohdin and Abdul Zubair. The condition of the fourth person continues to be critical, the sources said.
