Ensure adequate safety measures in school buses: Samoon

Srinagar: Principal Secretary Transport Department Dr Asghar Hassan Samoon today chaired a meeting to take review of measures regarding the safety and security of children in school buses.
The meeting was attended by RTO Kashmir Ikramullah Tak, senior officers of the Transport Department, Private Schools Association President G N Var, Parents Association of Private schools President Mohsin Goni and other concerned.
Hearing the concerns of the parents and school managements, Dr Samoon said that Government is taking various initiatives to ensure safety and security of school children. He asked the RTO to issue a circular regarding transportation facilities provided to the children as per the guidelines.
He also said that the driver of a school cab must have a valid license to drive LMV-Transport Vehicles for a period of at least four years and compulsorily wear a light blue shirt, light blue trousers and black shoes besides his name ID be displayed on the shirt.
Dr Samoon also said that Private School Association shall be included in Road Safety Council.
