Srinagar: Ministry of Tourism, government of India, has said that no proposal has been received from the Jammu and Kashmir government to build an artificial lake near Tavi river in Jammu.
Responding to a question by BJP’s Jugal Kishore Sharma whether the Government is formulating any scheme to build a lake near Tavi river in Jammu so as to promote tourism, MoS tourism Prahlad Singh Patel said that Ministry under the schemes of Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD provides financial assistance to State Governments, UT Administrations and Central Agencies for development of tourism infrastructure and facilities in the country.
He said the projects under these schemes are identified for development in consultation with the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations.
“Ministry has not received any proposal from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to build a lake near Tavi river in Jammu,” he said responding to specific question by Sharma as to whether the Government has received any proposal from the State in this regard.
