Srinagar: The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning big for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir while as the party is scheduled to start a new membership drive for which the mobile gadgets will play a key role.

The party leaders while talking to The INS informed that it will start a fresh membership drive to register ne party members to strengthen the ground in the State.

Chaired by National Vice President and Incharge J&K Avinash Rai Khanna, the party also held a meeting to finalize the things.

Source informed that Khanna during the meeting said the aim of the party’s membership drive is to expand its reach and make it inclusive so that it reaches people from all walks of life.

He said that adding new members will be enrolled through miss call and also through membership form in areas which did not have mobile network.

The membership campaign as per sources will be launched on July 6, which will conclude on August 11. Khanna has asked the senior workers to “work hard to reach out the people and bring them into the party fold.”

Meanwhile, the party’s Information Technology (IT) cell has started working for strengthening party’s roots in Kashmir via smart phone applications including WhatsApp and Facebook.

Manzoor Bhat, who runs BJP’s IT and media cell in Kashmir, told The INS that the followers are increasing with each passing day. “Through these smart phone applications, the common people as well as the party cadre are getting information about the public related schemes announced by the government,” Bhat said.

He added that at present, the workers of the party are high as compared to the other political parties in the Valley, saying that these applications have helped them to make people aware about the schemes of the government.

Bhat further added that the smart phone applications will also help the party to woo voters here who will ensure their win in the upcoming elections. “We have started the IT cell in Kashmir almost seven months back and now, there is a good response from the common people as they are getting aware about the people-friendly steps and schemes that is benefitting them,” he added.

He said the party is hopeful that it will reach to every single individual here and would try to redress all their issues.
