Srinagar: Court on Monday released senior journalist Ghulam Jeelani Qadri against a bail bond and asked Station House Officer to explain action taken in past years about the case involving him.

According to sources Qadri has been released against the bail bond of Rs 20000.
Court has directed SHO to explain his position in next hearing slated on 31 July 2019 about the action taken in the case registered against him on 15 Dec 1990.

Sources said that court asked police to explain their position declaring him absconding while he has  been issued passport twice in the past after the case was registered.

Qadri was arrested in a nocturnal raid by police at his residence in Srinagar. He has been described ‘absconding’ in the case by police.
