Srinagar: Scores of Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wagers, casual labourers, Land donors and ITI workers along staged a protest on Monday, demanding their wages pending from past several months.

PHE employees under the banner of Public Health Engineering Kashmir Joint Employees Association (PHEKJEA) assembled at Pratap Park here, chanting slogans against the government for withholding their wages from over one a half year.

They said delay in releasing their wages has led to the immense hardships to thousands of families. Accusing the government for ignoring their plights, the protesting employees here have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

The association president, Sajad Ahmad Parray said that today’s protest was organized against delay in wages from last several months.

Notably, the employees earlier locked down the department offices as mark of protest against the delay in releasing their wages.

He said that government instead of releasing the wages of PHE employees are leaving them to lurch at large. He also said that government must release their wages pending from nearly two years.

Parray said that several promises were made with them so far regarding the fulfillment of their demands but all in vein. “In case the government will not release our wages soon then they will stop water supply from all the division to mark a protest against the delay in wages,” he said.

The protesting employees also urged the government to release their wages at an earliest.
