Rape of minor: IUST students, staff protests

Awantipora: The students and the staff of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipora staged a peaceful protest demonstration on Monday against the rape of a minor girl in Bandipora district.
Eyewitnesses said that protest rally was taken out by the students and faculty members, demanding immediate and stern action against the accused.
The 3-year-old girl was raped in Sumbal area of Bandipora district and the incident has been widely condemned. The police have already arrested the accused, who is a resident of Malikpora Trigam in Sumbal, Bandipora.
Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh, has also assured that case will be taken to logical conclusion. Besides he appealed people to maintain calm
“We will investigate and do every effort so that the guilty gets exemplary punishment,” DGP said, adding that investigation is being carried out very swiftly.
