Mehbooba asks GOI, Militants to announce ceasefire

Srinagar: Former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party chief asked Government of India and militants to announce ceasefire in Kashmir in wake of holy month of Ramadan.

“I appeal Government of India to announce a ceasefire like it was announced previously and halt should be put on arrest spree, on crackdowns, encounters,” Mehbooba said.

She also appealed militants to not mount attacks on government forces.

“This is a holy month and people be let observe it without any threats,” she said.

“Life of Kashmiri has been made miserable,” she said while condemning the arrest spree in south Kashmir specifically in Pulwama, and Shopian.
