Basharat Rashid
Tral: The locals in Sheikh-Mohalla area in Pinglish village of Tral have expressed resentment against power development department (PDD) authorities for failing to install electricity transformer which was given to them five months back.
The aggrieved residents told INS that they have struggled for years to get the transformer for the area, which was later on sanctioned to them in the month of November last year.
They said that, despite the passing of more than five months now, authorities concerned have failed to install it properly for the public conveniences.
“We were happy to get the transformer sanctioned at Sheikh Mohalla area of Pinglish, but due to the official apathy, it is yet to be installed for use even after the passing of five months,” locals rued.
They said that they approached the officials of the Power department many times but nothing has been done so far.
In absence of electricity, a delegation of locals said that they face many issues and requested concerned authorities to look into the matter.
When contacted, Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD sub division Tral, Mohammad Maqbool Ahanger, told INS that transformer was given to them through Sobagaya scheme and the work to install it for use was delayed due to the lack of funds.
He said that concerned contractor couldn’t continue the work due to the lack of funds. He however said that the transformer will be installed in coming days as the “scheme has been extended.”
