LS Polls Anantnag: Clashes erupt in Damhal, Brinty areas, stone pelting on polling stations

Anantnag: Clashes have erupted in Damhal area in Kokernag, and in Brinty Dyalgam were protesters have resorted to stone pelting on polling booths on Tuesday. 

According to INS correspondent the two polling stations were stone pelted and clashes between the forces and protesters ensued.

On Monday evening at least five polling booths were stone pelted in Anantnag including at Sandoo achabal, magraypora, wularhama pahalgam, monghal, and wanihama.

Officials said that at Damhal and Brinty areas no vote was cast till 10 am.

Clashes were going on when this report was being filed.

Polls are underway for phase-I in the Anantnag district for the Anantnag parliamentary seat. The polls will be conducted in three phases in volatile south Kashmir.
