Srinagar: National Conference (NC) vice President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday led a protest march against the ban on civilian movement on highway twice a week.

The protesting NC workers and leaders including NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Peer Afaq, Tanvir Sadiq, Salman Sagar and Ahsan Pardesi assembled at Nowgam here and marched towards highway.

The protesters while marching were chanting slogans against ban on highway.

Later, protesters led by Omar Abdullah also staged a sit-in dharna at highway here to demand the revocation of the order.

Omar demanded the ban on civilian movement on highway on ebery Wednesdays and Sundays be revoked immediately so that the sufferings of people will come to an end.
