Our alliance with BJP wasn’t a mistake: PDP chief

Kupwara: Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said those supporting Peoples Democratic Party are real ‘Mujahids’ who have fought for the people of Valley and her party’s alliance with BJP wasn’t a mistake.
“Our alliance with BJP wasn’t a mistake but our party is the only surviving party which made BJP to sign the agenda of alliance to initiate talks with Pakistan, Huriyat Conference. We appointed Dineshwar Sharma as interlocutor to find a permanent solution to Kashmir issues,” Mehbooba told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
“My father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had a vision to change the Jammu and Kashmir and use it as a bridge between Pakistan and India and to the rest of word.”
“We made BJP to accept the release of over twelve thousand prisoners across the Valley,” Mehbooa said.
She said that PDP managed to open Muzaffarabad, Rawalkot road for trade but National Conference has always been talking about autonomy which they have failed to give so far despite being in power.
She said New Delhi should start dialogue with Hurriyat Conference and Pakistan at the earnest.
“Our religious clerks are being imprisoned and now teachers are being terminated. It’s wrong decision and it will serious consequences,” Mehbooba said.
