7 police, CRPF men among 11 injured in Lal Chowk grenade blast: Police

Srinagar: Eleven persons, seven of them police and CRPF men, were injured in a grenade blast near Palladium Cinema on Sunday evening, officials said.
“At about 1845 hours, Police rushed to the spot near Paldium Cinema in Maisuma area of Lal Chowk Srinagar following reports of a grenade attack by militants,” a police spokesman said.
“Officers attended the crime spot and found that four cops, three CRPF personnel and four civilians were injured in the attack,’ the spokesman said. The injured civilians have been identified as Humaira of Hairwan, Abdul Qayoom of Mandibal Nowshehra, Taliba Gulshan of Dalgate and Shadab Shah of of Nishat. The injured police and CRPF men were identified as Ashiq Ahmad, Abid, Nissar Ahmed, Mohammad Shafi, all constables, Sub Inspector R. Muniswami of CRPF’s 132 Balltion, Vishal and Davindar, constables  from same battalion.
“The injured have been shifted to the hospitals for the treatment of their injuries. They are stated to be stable.”
Police has registered a case in this regard and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident, the spokesman added.
