Kupwara: Scores of people from Lalpora lolab of Kupwara Distirct on Friday protested demonstration against the hospital authorities for failing to provide an ambulance to the patient yesterday evening.

The patient, protesters said was in dire need of medical care and was referred from Lalpora Health centre to Sub District Hospital  Sogam.

The protesters assembled outside the Lalpora Health centre raising  slogans against the Hospital authorities and Block Medical Officer Sogam.
“Yesterday about 10pm in the late evening we came along a patient here but no ambulance was available leaving the patient on Gods mercy along with an attended amid heavy snowfall”, a relative of the patient said.
They said they contacted BMO Sogam Dr Firdous, Who in return misbehaved and said ‘Don’t disturb me this time, I’m asleep”, relative claimed.
He also said that when they arrived at the medical facility no doctor was present there while rest of staff including NRHM were not present. .
“It’s very unfortunate how officials react when we need their help and BMO is using hospital ambulance for his personal use which is supposed to be available for the disposal of patients,” they said.
According to the  relatives of the patient, the lady had suffered heart stroke and was reffered from Lalpora to Sogam, where from she was referred to Kupwara Sub Distirct Hospital for specialized treatment.
The protesters sought immediate transfer of BMO sogam and round the clock functioning of health centre in their area with special doctors available there.
