Parts of Kashmir see more snowfall, night temp increases

Srinagar: Parts of Kashmir Valley received fresh snow overnight even as the meteorological department office forecast improvement from afternoon onwards.
An official of the local MeT office said on Friday Srinagar witnessed 13mm of snow (converted into rain) in 24 hours till 8:30 hours and a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius, Banihal saw 59.4mm of snow, Qazigund 24.2 mm, Pahalgam 12mm, Kokernag 15.8mm, Kupwara 16.5mm while Gulmarg saw 14 mm.
There has been light to moderate snowfall in the valley and rain in the Jammu division over the past 24 hours, a Met official said, adding, “Weather is likely to improve from today afternoon.”
Due to a cloud cover the minimum temperatures increased in Valley with Qazigund recording minus 0.2, Pahalgam minus 3.6, Gulmarg minus 7.6 and Kupwara minus 0.6 degrees Celsius.
Leh in Ladakh recorded minus 6.0, Kargil and Drass both were at minus 16.8 degrees Celsius.
Jammu 8.1, Katra 5.4, Batote minus 1.6, Bannihal minus 0.5 and Bhaderwah was at minus 0.4 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has forecast improvement in from afternoon before a fresh wet spell from next week.
