Srinagar: The two-day country-wide general strike call concluded on Wednesday with State President CITU and CPI (M) senior leader, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami leading a protest rally in Srinagar to protest against the anti-labour policies of BJP led government in the centre.
The protesters lead by Tarigami assembled at Srinagar Pratap Park and marched towards Press Enclave here amid chanting slogans against the BJP government in centre.
The trade union activists from Anganwadi workers/helpers Union, ASHA workers Union, Non-Gazzetted Electric Employees Union, Kashmir Construction Workers Union, Horticulture Employees Union, Mid-Day Meal Workers Union, Handicrafts Workers Union, Centaur Hotel Workers Union, Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association with banners and CITU flags in their hands raised slogans like ‘Inqilab Zindabad’, ‘workers unity zindabad’, ‘down with anti-worker policies of Modi-Govt’ and ‘we want justice’ marched through Lal Chowk.
Addressing the rally at press enclave, Tarigami as ked PM Modi to stop selling the dreams, saying that the tall claims of BJP led government in the centre including 10 crore jobs to the unemployed youth and other related things proved hoax on the ground.
“Some of the big failures of the Modi-Government have been demonetization, betrayal with farmers, questionable rewriting of Rafale deal, weakening of institutions, cultivation of hate and unemployment,” Tarigami said.
The crux of the policies pursued by the Modi led government so has been hollow promises for the toiling masses and largesse for the rich and Corporate, he said, adding that the central government at present is for Ambanis, Adhanis and others like them while the poor have been at the receiving end.
