Pulwama: Thousands of people on Friday attended the funeral prayers of three slain Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Tral and Awantipora areas of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
All the three militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Gulshanpora woods of Tral area on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said that a large number of people from Tral, Awantipora and adjoining areas assembled at the native villages of slain militants.
Locals said that thousands of mourners raised pro-freedom slogans, while as women were wailing in the crowd as they marched with the bodies of all the three slain at their native villages in Laribal, Chersoo and Sail in Tral and Awantipora.
They also claimed that a group of militants appeared in the funeral of Shakoor Ahmad Parray in Laribal Tral and offered gun salute to him.
Amid pro-freedom sloganeering the slain were laid to rest at their ancestral graveyards.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across the Tral sub district and Awantipora on second consecutive day.
