Snowfall closes Srinagar-Jammu highway, Mughal road remains closed

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, was closed following snowfall, the officials said on Wednesday.
They said there was 3-5 inches of snowfall near Jawahar tunnel and some other places enroute the nearly 300 kilometer thoroughfare.
The Mughal road, connecting the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was remained closed.
Reports of snowfall was received from high-altitude areas including Peer Ki Gali along the Mughal road, since Tuesday night, the officials said. The Srinagar-Leh highway also remained closed.
