Rangoli, Mehandi competitions held on Day-2 of Youth Fest Sonzal-2018

Srinagar, Dec 13: Bringing their creative ideas to fruition around 70 students from various Degree Colleges and Departments of the University participated in Rangoli and Mehandi competitions on the second day of the Kashmir University Youth Festival Sonzal-2018.
In Rangoli, on the spot two themes were given to the participants, ‘Paradise on Earth’ and ‘Festivals’ in which participants made awesome geometrical patterns in a confluence of colours depicting paradise in its picturesque forms whileas in Mehandi participants applied in several designs.
Sonzal-2018 is an eight -day annual youth festival organized by Division of Youth Affairs, Department of Students Welfare (DSW) KU.
The festival shall host competitions in quiz, debate, elocution, collage making, poster-making, painting, cartoon-making, Rangoli, clay-modeling, Mehandi, photography, musical events and other categories, during next eight days.
Both competitions were adjudicated by a three-member jury comprising of Masood Hussain, Yosuf Naqasbandi and Akhter Rasool.
The organizers said that the winners of Sonzal-2018 will represent Kashmir University at 34th edition of National Youth festival which will be organized by Association of Indian Universities, Ministry of Youth Affairs Govt of India and in association with Punjab University Chandigarh from 27 December to 31 December 2018.
Meanwhile the winners of North Zone competition will be called by Association of Indian Universities to participate at All India Level of Youth festival being hosted by Chandigarh University, Mohali in January 2019.
Quiz Preliminary and Cartooning have been scheduled for Friday this week.
