Government Monday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest to prevent him from participating in candle light vigil against “human rights violations”.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of which Mirwaiz is a part beside Syed Ali Geelani and Yasin Malik have urged people to observe human rights week beginning from today till December 9.
