Gunfight breaks out in Shopian, internet snapped

Srinagar: A gunfight between militants and government forces started early Monday morning in Sangran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district where internet services have been snapped by the authorities.
Official sources told INS that a joint team of army’s 34 Rashtriya Riles, paramilitary CRPF and police’s SOG laid siege of Sangran in wee hours.
As the joint team moved towards suspected house, the militants hiding inside, fired upon government forces, triggering off an encounter.
Meanwhile authorities have snapped internet in the area as a routine measure to prevent people, especially youth, from marching towards the encounter site.
