Srinagar: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Monday issued a notice to superintendent of police and deputy commissioner of Kulgam, asking them to submit a detailed report regarding killing of 9th standard student Muskaan Jan last month.
Muskan was injured on November 25 during an encounter at Khudwani and she succumbed to injuries at a hospital after couple of days.
Hearing a petition filed by chairman international forum for justice and human rights (IFJHR) Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, the SHRC chairman Justice (Rtd) Bilal Nazki asked the SSP and DC Kulgam to furnish a detailed report as to how the 14-year-old was injured.
The petitioner has sought an inquiry into the incident. The petitioner has also urged the commission to impress upon the government to sanction adequate relief in favour of the family members of Muskan.
Muskan was injured by a bullet in Wanigund, Khudwani in Kulgam after militants and government forces exchanged fire on November 25. According to the petitioner, the girl was shifted to district hospital where from she was referred to SMHS where she succumbed to injuries
