Panchayat Poll Phase VI tomorrow: 111 Sarpanchs, 1048 panches elected unopposed

Srinagar: While 111 Sarpanch and 1048 Panch have been elected unopposed, polling will take place for 406 sarpanch and 2277 panch seats, with 7156 candidates in fray in the 6th of the 9-phased Panchayat Elections tomorrow.
As per the schedule published on October 22, the nomination process for 590 halqas having 4507 Panch constituencies commenced with the issuance of notification on November 6.
An electorate of 597396 will be voting for sarpanch constituencies while it is 457581 for panch constituencies.
In this phase, 3174 polling stations are being set up – 410 in Kashmir Division and 2764 in Jammu Division. Of these, 771 have been categorized as Hypersensitive – 410 in Kashmir Division and 361 in Jammu Division.
