Sopore: Several people were injured after government forces fired pellets and teargas shells besides resorting to aerial firing during funeral procession of Lashker-e-Toiba militant Mehraj Khan at Iqbal market of Sopore in north Kahsmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Khan was killed along with LeT commander Naveed Jatt in a gunfight at Chattergam in Budgam district of central Kashmir on Wednesday.
Reports said that government forces resorted to use of force like pellet shotgun firing, teargas shelling and aerial firing at Iqbal market during the funeral, resulting in injuries to several people. More government forces personnel have been rushed to the area where restrictions have been imposed since early morning, sources said.
