Shopian: An army soldier was killed and another injured in an encounter with militants at Batagund area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.  So far four militants have been killed in the gunfight that started in the area early on Sunday.

Sources said that the territorial army soldier identified as Naik Nazir Ahmad was injured in the initial stage of the gunfight and was removed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
