Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Tuesday strongly condemned the killing of Mir Hafizullah, District President Tehreek-i-Hurriyat Anantnag and injuring of his wife and termed it as a “beastly act which should be condemned by one and all, who believe in humanity and fundamental freedom of people.”
“The Bar Association feels that in the killing of Mir Hafizullah, the people of Kashmir have lost a sincere, dedicated and honest soul of the soil, who has for the most of his life, preferred incarceration rather than succumbing to the threats, pressure tactics and intimidations extended to him by those, who are opposed to the just cause of the people of Kashmir,” the lawyers body said and demanded that the killing be probed by an independent agency “so that those who have committed the dastardly act do not go unpunished.”
The lawyers’ body also condemned the hitting of three innocent girls namely Simran Jan, Rafia Jan and Meenu Jan, with bullets in their abdomen, leg and foot and also firing of pellets into the eyes of one youth Bilal Ahmad at Nadigam, Shopian, by Government forces and also termed the act as a “brutal which has no parallels in the history.”
The lawyers’ body appealed the members of international community to come to the help of the people of Kashmir who are caged and are being killed, blinded and maimed every day and their properties are also raised to ground only because they seek their right of self-determination, guaranteed to them by the UN Security Council and promised by the Indian Leaders both inside and outside the Parliament and World Fora and await its implementation for the last 70 years, according to a statement issued here.
