Shopian : Two militants were killed and a CRPF personnel was injured in a gunfight at the strike of dawn in Rebban area of Zainapora in District Shopian.

According to Police the gunfight broke after forces laid siege over the area over a tip off about presence of militants in the area.

“As The search operation was going on, the search party was fired upon by the hiding militants. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter,” he said.

In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Their identities are being ascertained.

An Army official said that the operation in Reban was jointly conducted by troops of 178 BN CRPF, SOG Jainapora, 1 RR.

“Gunfight broke out between trps and militants @ 0330 hrs. During the encounter, 02 militants were neutralised and recovered 01 AK rifle and 01 Pistol,” He said.

” One Constable of 178 Bn CRPF received bullet injury on his left leg, first aid administered and further being shifted to 92 BH,” he said.
