Gunfight, clashes amid snowfall in Shopian

Shopian: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in outskirts of Shopian town in south Kashmir on Saturday evening.
Reports reaching INS said that the gunfight ensued in Khudpora area of Shopian after government forces launched cordon and search operation in the village.
As the joint team of army, police and CRPF were carrying out searches in village , militants hiding in one of the houses in the besieged village fired upon them, triggering off an encounter.
Despite snow, youth assembled near encounter site and pelted stones on government forces who retaliate with tear smoke shells to disperse them.
A police official said a brief exchange of fire took place during cordon and search operation. “Nothing is clear as yet,” he said.
Reportedly two militants have been killed so far but no there was official confirmation so far. Emerging story, more are details awaited.
