Tral encounter: Militant’s body, sniper rifle found

Tral: Body of a militant has been recovered along with a sniper rifle from within the debris of a house razed to rubble amid a gunfight at Chankitar village o Tral in south Kashmir Pulwama district, a police official said on Tuesday. The searches in the area are going on, the official added. He said that the identity and the group affiliation of the slain militant is being ascertained but “apparently he seems to be a foreigner.”

Earlier Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force launched cordon and search operation in the village after getting information about the presence of militants there. Soon an encounter followed which continued for few hours during which the house in which the militants were hiding was razed to rubble.
