Anantnag:- Media persons on tuesday staged a peacefull protest at District commissioner office Anantnag against the recently thrashing of journalists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The reporters Fayaz Lalu and Deen Imran working with national TV channels alleged that they were beaten up by CRPF’s 40 battalion at Ashajipora, Anantnag on Monday last week at janglatmandi Anantnag while they were performing their professional duties.

The troops also damaged our cameras and cell phones, the reporters alleged.

They said the incident took place when the media persons were covering protests in the area amid shutdown against the killing of Hizb commander Manan Wani.

Meanwhile, the Anantnag Working Journalists Association (AWJA) held a sit-in protest and demanded FIR against the CRPF men.

However a police official reached on spot and assures him to take action against them.
