Thousands attend funeral of Sopore militant, colleagues offer ‘gun salute’

Sopore: Thousands of people on Friday attended funeral prayers of other Lashkar-e-Taiba militant who was killed along with his associate in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said that people in thousands  assembled in Brath village of Sopore after the body of the militant Minhajul Mohiddin reached his native village after Friday congregational prayers.

Thousands of people attended the last rites of the militant. Amid pro- freedom slogans Minhajul was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Brath Kalan village.

Minhajul Mohiddin was killed along with his associate Akeel Sofi of Khanpora Baramulla in an encounter in Kreeri Village on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of militants appeared at the funeral of the slain Brath militant and offered “gun salute” to him.
