Non local who died in Army ambush in Kupwara still unidentified, body at SDH Kupwara mortuary

Kupwara: The non-local who was killed in an army ambush in Chowkibal area of northern Kupwara district  four days back is lying in mortuary of Sub District Hospital Kupwara since three days and his identification has not been ascertained yet.

According to an official at the medical center the male body is lying there since three days and none has approached them to identify or to ascertain his whereabouts.

“We have asked higher officials of the department and district authorities to go public with his picture so that his whereabouts are known and he may be given proper burial according to his religion and his family comes to know about him,” they said.

The deceased was killed after an ambush was laid by the army in Sayedaan Pathra Safva Gali at Kralpora.

Police has said that Army had reportedly asked the man to stop during the ambush, which he declined

“He ran away from the spot and went into nearby bushes. On seeing his suspicious movement and when he fled, army opened fire and he was killed,” police had said.
