Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan on Saturday directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Kashmir division to regularize all illegal power connections under Saubhagya scheme up to October 31, 2018 on war footing.
The Divisional Commissioner made these directions while reviewing the status of centrally sponsored scheme Saubhagya aimed to provide electricity to all households.
The meeting was informed that PDD regularized 85000 electricity connections out of 1,62,658 under Saubhagya scheme across the valley so far.
To achieve 100 per cent electrification under SAUBHAGYA scheme, Div Com directed all DDCs of Kashmir Division to start an intense drive with PDD authorities to identify all illegal power connections in their respective districts and regularize them under the scheme.
He also asked them to identify those households who have two or more families residing under single electricity connection.
He directed SICOP and PGCIL authorities to supply poles, conductors, transformers, HT wires and other necessary materials to all districts administrations so that the said scheme is implemented in the Kashmir Division in a stipulated time.
“DDCs will work in co-ordinate efforts to ensure that the beneficiaries are identified in a transparent manner so that the benefit percolates to the genuine and deserving ones,” he added.
Concerned district administrations were also asked to send their complete progress report to the Divisional Commissioners office on weekly basis for the further necessary action.
Chief Engineer PDD, Assistant Commissioner and other concerned officers were present in the meeting where as all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
