Pulwama: Government Girls Middle School located in Litter village of Pulwama has been functioning from three class rooms.  Much to the lackadaisical approach of educational department school lacks basic facilities.

Inhabitants of Litter told INS that the school has been such since four decades and it was upgraded to Middle school level as well.

” The upgradation happened only on papers,” residents said.

The school has 50 plus students on roll and authorities have not been able to provide a better place for them.

“This is despite Government land is available near school but that has been occupied by people,” Jehangir Ahmad,  a resident said.

The school has no play ground, no proper drinking water facility.

“But that’s not a permanent solution. Directorate of School Education cant sit idle and make hollow claims of upgrading schools without providing them any infrastructure, ” residents rued.

ZEO Fayaz Ahmad,  Tahab Zone,  said that he has recent been appointed in the area but will look into the matter.

“I will visit the area and take stock of situation. If land is available, will provide them that,” Ahmad promised.
